Ethiopia is the origin of Arabica coffee and home to some of the world’s most unique coffee varieties. Our signature Harrar coffee beans are naturally-grown in small farms in the mountains of eastern Ethiopia, and are known for their smooth taste and distinct chocolatey, mocha, blue berry flavor. The beans grown by indigenous people who practice traditional, natural farming technique, hand picked, sun dried and manually processed. The Origin of Arabica Coffee and The Rich History

Ethiopian coffee, known for its distinctive flavor profile and historical significance, stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and biodiversity of Ethiopia. Ethiopia is known to be The Land of Origins as a home for the most ancient discovered human remains, the origin of the river Nile as well as the birthplace of Arabica Coffee.

Legend has it that coffee was discovered by an Ethiopian goat herder named Kaldi, who noticed his goats becoming energetic after eating the red berries from a certain plant. Intrigued by this discovery, Kaldi tried the berries himself and experienced a newfound vitality. The news of Kaldi's findings spread, leading to the creation of one of the world's most beloved beverages offering a captivating blend of tradition, flavor, and uniqueness.

The Diverse Varieties of Ethiopian Coffee

Ethiopia is home to a diverse coffee varieties that have captured the hearts of coffee enthusiasts around the globe. With its unique geography, rich cultural heritage, and centuries-old coffee traditions, Ethiopia is a treasure trove of coffee flavors, each variety telling a story of its origin and cultivation. Ethiopia's coffee-growing regions are as varied as the flavors they produce with unique cultures and traditions. From the lush highlands of Sidamo to the sun-kissed hills of Yirgacheffe, each region offers distinct microclimates that contribute to the remarkable flavors found in their coffee beans. These regions have become synonymous with specific taste profiles, allowing coffee connoisseurs to embark on a journey of flavors across the Ethiopian landscape.

Sidamo: 

Berries and Chocolate: The Sidamo region, known for its vibrant biodiversity, produces coffee beans with a characteristically bright acidity and a medley of berry notes. Sipping a cup of Sidamo coffee is like taking a stroll through a forest laden with blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. As the coffee swirls across the palate, subtle undertones of chocolate and floral fragrances dance in harmony, creating a sensory experience that is truly one-of-a-kind.

Yirgacheffe: 

Citrus and floral: Yirgacheffe, nestled in the southern part of Ethiopia, is celebrated for its exceptionally clean and delicate coffees. With flavors ranging from bergamot and citrus to jasmine and tea-like qualities, Yirgacheffe coffees are often likened to fine wines. The distinct wet processing method employed here enhances the beans' natural flavors, resulting in a cup that is both elegant and complex, making Yirgacheffe a favorite among specialty coffee aficionados.

Harrar: 

Reminiscence of Fruits and Spice: The historic Harrar region, where the coffee journey first began, offers a coffee experience that is as enigmatic as it is flavorful. Harrar coffee is known for its distinct wine-like acidity, medium body, and a symphony of flavors that includes blueberries, stone fruits, chocolate and spices. The dry processing method used here imparts a unique earthiness and intensity to the beans, creating a cup that embodies the rich cultural heritage of Ethiopia.

Limu: 

Floral and Citrus Notes: Limu, a lesser-known gem in the Ethiopian coffee constellation, is gaining recognition for its floral and citrusy characteristics. Grown in the western part of the country, Limu coffee beans showcase a balanced acidity and a bouquet of flavors reminiscent of jasmine, lemon, and bergamot. This variety's versatility makes it a captivating choice for those seeking a harmonious and aromatic coffee experience.
